Couch2Tri Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 July 2026

Couch2Tri is a personal triathlon training app. This page explains what data the app uses, where it's stored, and who (if anyone) it's shared with.

The short version

Your training data lives on your own device. Couch2Tri doesn't run its own servers that store your personal information, doesn't show ads, doesn't use analytics or tracking, and doesn't sell or share your data with third parties.

What Couch2Tri stores, and where

Your athlete profile, training plan, and workout history are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device SwiftData storage. This data is not uploaded to any Couch2Tri server — there isn't one. If you delete the app, or use Reset App in Settings, this data is permanently deleted.

Apple Health

If you track a session on Apple Watch, Couch2Tri reads workout distance and heart rate from HealthKit to log that session, and saves completed swim/bike/run sessions back to the Health app. This data stays within Apple's HealthKit framework and the app's own local storage — it isn't sent anywhere else.

Location

For sessions tracked directly on your phone (rather than Apple Watch), Couch2Tri uses your location to record your route and measure distance/pace. Route data is stored locally alongside that workout's history and is not transmitted anywhere.

Calendar

If you choose to add a training session to your calendar, Couch2Tri requests write-only access to create that event. The app cannot read your existing calendar events.

Apple Music

Couch2Tri can show and let you control music already playing in Apple Music during a session. It doesn't access your music library contents beyond what's needed to control playback.

Strava (Garmin sync)

If you choose to connect a Strava account, Couch2Tri uses Strava's standard OAuth sign-in (you log in on Strava's own page, not inside this app) to read your swim, bike, and run activities and match them to the right day in your training plan. This is entirely optional and off by default.

To keep Strava's API credentials out of the app itself, the one-time token exchange with Strava is relayed through a small proxy server Couch2Tri's developer operates (Cloudflare Workers). That proxy only forwards the authorization code/refresh token needed to complete Strava's sign-in — it does not store your Strava activity data, and your resulting access tokens are kept in your iPhone's Keychain, not on the proxy.

Disconnecting Strava from Settings removes these tokens from your device immediately.

Notifications

If you turn on Workout Reminders, Couch2Tri schedules local notifications on your device for upcoming sessions. These are scheduled entirely on-device — no push notification server is involved, and no data leaves your phone to make this work.

Analytics and tracking

Couch2Tri does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs of any kind. No data is collected for tracking purposes, in-app or across other apps/websites.

Children

Couch2Tri is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age required to consent to data processing in their country.

Changes to this policy

If what the app does with your data changes, this page will be updated accordingly.
